About Us

The Hendersonville Optimist Club has won distinction among peer organizations within Optimist International.

We are a service organization focused on serving kids in our community. By providing hope and positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in kids of Sumner County. With various fundraising activities,  including our ‘pampered players‘ events, we strive to raise funds to work on projects of our own as well as helping fund existing efforts in the community. One hundred percent of monies raised go to fund our charitable activities. This, of course, would not be possible without the volunteer efforts and dedication of our members.

We are a proud Compass Partner for George Whitten Elementary School and regularly help serve non-profits in Sumner County. In 2010, we helped support Faces of Hope, Ashley’s Place, and Homesafe by providing needs based grants for these deserving non-profits. We also held our annual ‘Cindy Lou Who’ essay contest for local third graders and issued metals and savings bonds to our winners to help fund their education in the future.

How YOU can help!

We welcome you to join us as a member of the Hendersonville Optimists Club. As a member you can participate in all activities or join us around your current schedule. We also hope you will encourage your friends, family or neighbors to join us as well.

Promise Yourself…

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
